In block A we finished reading Act 3 and spent time completing the study guide. Because it did not get marked, we will have to do this first thing on Tuesday and have the Act 2-3 test right afterward. In block C, we marked the Act3 study guide and read all of Act 4. The Act 4 study guide was handed out and it will likely be marked on Tuesday before the test on Acts 2-3. If you are not in class to get your study guide marked for whatever, reason, it is your responsibility to come in and get it marked. If the rest of the classes study guides are returned before you do this, yours is only worth completion marks. Please get in to get yours marked ASAP.
Study for the Act 2-3 test, do the quotes to the end of Act 3 at least and for block C do the Act 4 study guide. (These study guides are on the website if you don't have one) Have a good long weekend.

May 10

Well, I had fun today! We watched a movie clip on PEE chain writing, one on Shakespeare and another one on Shakespeare and then did the little quiz. Although it was out of 11, I have decided to record it out of 10, giving everyone 1 bonus, to compensate for the unpopular question. Anyway, moving on, we started to read Act 1 Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. If you weren't here you should read it on your own. Block C only has a little to finish. We also managed to irritate the administration and everyone else with the noise. No other homework. Try the bonus from yesterday if you didn't do it, especially if you missed the video and quiz today.

May 7 and 8

May 7
I was away but thank you for being so good to the TOC. The class worked on completing the analysis of the poem Invictus or Watchers and wrote out a paragraph and good copy. These should have been handed in at the end of the period or today at the latest.

May 8
Today we did an in-class poetry essay. There were many poems given out yesterday and everybody had to analyse 1 and write out their paragraph and hand it in by the end of the period. Each paragraph should have used the TPCASTT method and PEE chains. Tomorrow there is a Unit Final Exam. This can't be rewritten, so please study. Sorry this blog entry is so late.

Bonus: Try this out. Pretty Easy!

Today we worked on TPCASTT and started an analysis with a partner. A block did The Watchers and C did Invictus. Please have a rough draft of a paragraph (use Winter Kills as a model) for Monday. You will collaborate with your partner on Monday and turn in a combined paragraph which includes the best points from both of you. We also heard the Ravens in C block. There will be a poetry exam next week, likely Tuesday or Wednesday. Study!! It is quite a difficult exam. There will also be an in-class essay next week. Have a nice weekend.

Here's an interesting Bonus opportunity. Click on the link which should take you back to our wiki. Log in and look for the page "Raven Reviews". Read the instructions and post your review.

Today we had another poetry terms review quiz. Then we had a couple of Ravens in Block A. All the Ravens from Block C will turn up tomorrow. We then did an oral/class TPCASTT analysis of Poetry Reading at West Point. Unfortunately, there was no time to start anything else so there is no homework tonight. All apologies.

Go Canucks!

May 2

Today we had a little time to edit the Browning vs. Shakespeare PEE paragraphs. Then we talked TPCASTT. We looked at a little poem called Winter Kills and read the accompanying analysis. Block A presented some of their Ravens. We will see the rest tomorrow. Block C will do theirs on Friday. There is a quiz tomorrow on the same old poetry terms (List 6-7-8) Again!! Should be pretty easy this time around. Any Browning/Shakespeare's need out there need to come in tomorrow. Do not worry about doing any TPCASTT tonight. We will work on that tomorrow too. Busy days ahead!

Easy, Easy Bonus today! You know the drill by now! (Send me a screenshot, etc.)

May 1

Today we worked on finishing Sonnet 23. We discussed the meaning of it and then a compare/contrast paragraph was assigned comparing the visions of love between Browning and Shakespeare. The sonnets are on the back of the 23 page. Make sure you are using tight PEE chains in your response. Rough drafts of these would be good for tomorrow. We will have some time for editing in class and then move on to the final thing TPCASTT!!! No homework.

Another Extremely Challenging Bonus: Must be complete!!!
